Paso Robles is located halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco is Paso Robles Wine Country. Paso Robles is California's fastest growing wine region. In the mid 1990s, Paso Robles was home to 35 wineries and 13,000 acres of grapes. Today, the Paso Robles appellation boasts more than 26,000 vineyard acres and more than 200 wineries, as well as an international reputation for producing some of California's most exciting wines. Sunset Magazine recently declared Paso Robles the West Coast's "most exciting wine region".
Along your journey through Paso Robles Wine Country, take time to stroll the historic downtown to shop and dine. Boutique stores, wine country cuisine, and tasting rooms fill the blocks surrounding Paso Robles' Downtown City Park. Neighboring Paso Robles along the coast are the towns of San Simeon, home to Hearst Castle on the north, the fishing village of Morro Bay to the south. In between you will find Cambria, Harmony, and Cayucos. Also to the south is the city of San Luis Obispo. All are within a short drive and worthy of your exploration.
Paso Robles prides itself on its culture and early California heritage. The Downtown City Park plays a graceful host to a number of entertainment events throughout the year. Enjoyable wine festivals, relaxing summer concerts and art expositions highlight the local artisan talent of the quaint Paso Robles region. Recollections of the Pioneer era all envelop Paso Robles for separate weekends of nostalgia and remembrance, and local museums display classic mementos of times past, year round. The town is a gateway to two of the California Missions. Dating back over two hundred years these sanctuaries include artifacts from the early Native American settlements.
